I actually purchased this product because of the first review. I have a home-brew computer with Vista 32bit, blah, blah, blah.
After the initial setup, and having to go to regedit to find my drives again, this unit outperforms the other drives I have in the same computer.

I bought this DVD player for my Dell Inspiron Netbook. The drive is very sturdy. It is much sturdier than most drives that are installed in most pcs today. The Dell Netbook version of Windows Media Player that I had did not have the codec I needed to operate this drive. My netbook would not download a newer version of Media player due to some system configuration issue. I downloaded the freeware Standard version of VLC media player and all worked perfectly. This drive has convinced me that I actually prefer external drives for laptops.
I want to add that Windows 7 installs this DVD player very well. You won't need codecs or VLC Media player to use this with Windows 7. |

| This is a must have for anyone who owns a mini notebook. Easily play CDs or DVDs and burn them, too! It's very light weight and compact. The price was great! |
